Today is Community Read-In Day at Graden Elementary School In Parkville, Mo.  About 25 people with all different backgrounds, including me,  were asked to read to the students at the school and then talk about our professions.

I got to read to Mrs. Garcia's third grade class.  I read the book "Dear Mrs. LaRue: Letters from Obedience School."  Briefly, it's about a dog sent away to obedience school for being bad...and he sends letters to his owner of his hardships.  But he writes the letters on a typewriter.  I had to ask if anyone even knew what a typewriter was...about half the class actually did. I was surprised.

We had so much fun reading the book, talking about dogs, and learning more about our experiences with animals.  Afterwards they asked questions about my job here at Fox 4.

Mrs. Garcia was kind enough to take some pictures while the students and I talked, have look at the pictures.  Since I talked quite a bit about my dog Checkers, I included a picture of her.

Thank-you for inviting me to be a part of your school day!

  • The Falling Dollar and You

    • From: JDog
    • Description:

This is a convoluted subject, and may not draw a lot of comments, but here goes.

For the past two days the international financial community has been fluid with chatter leading up to Obama’s appearance at the APEC summit in Singapore. Specifically, virtually every Pacific rim country has been unusually vocal about the U.S. dollar’s weakness and the accompanying Chinese Yuan weakness; (note: the Chinese exchange rate is tied to the U.S. dollar). According to currency observers, many countries, (not the U.S.) have been overtly trying to stem the dollar’s fall by purchasing dollars and adding them to their reserves. Despite coordinated and individual dollar purchases, nothing has stemmed the dollar’s  9 month plunge (14+%).

The falling dollar makes other countries exports more expensive, and when the Yuan follows the dollar down the Chinese hit a worldwide home run in exports, since their products become cheaper and cheaper against all other countries. So, yesterday we had Timmy Geithner reaffirming the Obama administration’ commitment to a strong dollar policy, (hahaha, who is he kidding?). Today, we’ve had South Korean, Thailand, Russia and New Zealand publically calling for an end to the U.S./China exchange rate relationship. In the end, this worldwide finger pointing at the Chinese may actually help the U.S. attain something that they have been unsuccessful in attaining on their own; a competitive Chinese exchange rate. But wait, is this what the U.S. really wants at this time and place; more expensive imports? Just as the Government nears trying to exit their Quantitative Easing program, in which interest rates will have nowhere to go but UP, we throw in higher priced imports!!! Throw that into your glass of pepto, shake thoroughly, and swallow with one big gulp of INFLATION.

In theory, exchange rates are a self-correcting. As a currency’s value declines the country’s exports pick up, leading to a demand of that currency, which causes its value to rise, and visa versa. What is missing from this picture is for the last 30+ years the U.S. has become a consumer country, which produces very little to export. So, as the dollar declines there is NOTHING to stop its fall, not to mention that the Government is currently printing dollars faster than the world can absorb them, which just perpetuates the fall.

So, how do we get out of this mess? And folks, this issue will end up affecting you vastly more than Health Care or Foreclosures.

I only have two ideas and neither one is good for the US.

      You got any ideas?

There’s no question now that we need congressional hearings into how the army missed the warning signs on Hasan, especially given the suspicions as to why they might have looked the other way.

Mark Steyn : Degrees of Separation

Imagine the satisfaction Mr. Hasan will have when he reads this.

Verum Serum : Radical 9/11 Cleric Linked to Fort Hood Shooter: Nidal Hasan is a Hero

I have a hard time even imagining the level of depravity and moral bankruptcy necessary to view the cold-blooded massacre of unarmed men and women as an act of heroism. It’s an act of cowardice, and Al-Awlaki is a sick and evil man. He is an enemy of this country.

Rich Lowry : Another One for the “Better Screwed than Rude” File

Fort Hood gunman had told US military colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut. -- The Telegraph
Also, the press has been full of PTSD stories this weekend. The media is basically inventing a new disorder to explain Hasan’s act—pre-traumatic stress disorder. Either that, or we’re supposed to believe PTSD is contagious and Hasan came to suffer from it by treating it.

Jules Crittenden : Combat Wounded, Combat Dead

[Major Hasan] probably deserves desertion, treason and terrorism charges if, as all indicators seem to very strongly suggest, he was engaged in jihad, from his violence-inciting, hateful rants about the Koran, his denunciation of the United States as “the aggressor” in arguments with fellow soldiers, to his shouts of “Allahu Akhbar,” to what they believe were his Internet defenses of suicide bombings, to his choice of targets, the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood. If al-Qaeda is an amorphous enemy, an idea made situationally manifest by the will of its adherents, and he was in fact an adherent of its violent agenda, then he is the enemy, his actions were acts of war, and they bled and died under enemy fire.

Is any of the above very likely to be offically recognized? No.

      Seraphic Spouse

Incredible, especially when you consider that the only Muslims killed in the USA on 9/11 and in Britain on 7/7 were killed by Muslims.

Muslims may have as much to fear from radical Muslims as any other American, Briton or Canadian. It's not like the Toronto 15 had come up with a plan to make sure none of Toronto's thousands of Muslims were around when they triggered their bombs.

I'm rather sick of the MSM interrupting our grieving to tell us that, to add Muslims' insults to a Muslim's murderous injury, they suspect us of wanting to attack their mosques now, even though we didn't the last ten times a Muslim killed innocent people in the name of Islam. What are they scared of? Grafitti?

Althouse : The Fort Hood massacre was rhetorical flourish as Obama urged House Democrats to vote for health care

His idea was: Soldiers make sacrifices for the good of the country, so congressional Democrats should put their concerns about the next election aside for the good of the country.
      ...
I'm trying to imagine the political environment that Washington Democrats occupy. A President glibly lays out that analogy, and it is received — without any wincing or taint of disgust — as awesome inspiration.

Obama Doesn't "Get" the Military He Commands

Life is full of mysteries, but chief among them in this Marine wife's mind at the moment is, "Just how stupid does this White House think we are?" If the events of the past few months have shown us anything, it's that Barack Obama has little enthusiasm for - or interest in - one of the most important duties of an American President: his role as Commander in Chief of the nation's armed forces.
      ...
...where was our Commander in Chief when his top commander in Afghanistan was being viciously attacked? Did he step in and defend his subordinate for doing the job he was ordered to do? Of course he didn't.
      ...
The McChrystal leak was followed by the revelation that our stalwart Commander in Chief had only met with his top commander in Afghanistan once. Stung by the implication that his "war of necessity" was very much on the back burner, Obama scrambled to find a mere 20 minutes to spare as he idled on a runway in northern Europe. He spent more time than that conducting a beer summit.

Now the Army's largest base has suffered a devastating attack by a deranged Islamist. And how does our Commander in Chief respond? He gives a "shout out" to Joe Medicine Crow, that noted Congressional Medal of Honor winner.
      ...
...in a moment of national tragedy is it really too much to expect the President of the United States to forego the "shout outs"? Is it too much ask that he learn the difference between the Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Medal of Honor?

Noah Pollak : Could “Secondary Trauma” Have Driven Him to Shooting?

So asks an absurd Time magazine story positing that Major Nidal Malik Hasan murdered a dozen people while apparently shouting “Allahu Akbar” because in his line of work — psychiatry — “there was no shortage of horrific tales that could have set loose the demons in Hasan’s mind.”

This shouldn’t be surprising coming from Tim McGirk. He went to Afghanistan after 9/11, had Thanksgiving with the Taliban, and wrote a long piece for National Geographic about what a great time he had and how we’re all just human beings doing our thing on this big blue marble, so let’s not judge. Then he went to Iraq and singlehandedly created the Haditha Massacre hoax. Then he went to Jerusalem and spent a few years slandering Israel. Now he’s trafficking in pop psychology on behalf of a likely domestic jihadist. It’s been quite a career.

Clarice Feldman : Tim McGirk who concocted the Haditha massacre is back

Seems like just yesterday Tim McGirk was making up lies about the "Haditha massacre" .

Well, he's baaaaack! Now as Time's Bureau Chief in Jerusalem he suggests that Major Hasan might have been afflicted with "secondary trauma."
      ...
Let me say, having read numerous accounts of Hasan's behavior before the massacre at Fort Hood, I think it more than possible that secondary trauma is a nonsensical excuse latched onto by those who cannot bear to face the truth.

I think McGirk is afflicted with something himself.

Michelle Malkin : Nidal Hasan’s calling card explained

“SOA” stands for Soldiers of Allah. “SWT” is a related Muslim acronym... These letters stand for the Arabic words "Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala," or "Glory to Him, the Exalted."
      ...

      ...
I covered two main aspects of the story that were underplayed by the MSM–Lee Malvo’s illegal alien catch-and-release story and Nation of Islam convert Muhammad and Malvo’s Muslim hate-mongering. Snide MSM’ers and the CAIR propagandists attacked those of who called these thugs what they are: terrorists.

The parallels with the Fort Hood case — jihad-inspired killers, media whitewash — are striking. They’re the parallels you can’t talk about without being labeled a bigot, racist, or “extremist.”
      ...

...tell that to the families who are mourning their loss of loved ones and to those who were wounded.

Ed Morrissey : Who will get jurisdiction to try Hasan?

...the Obama administration may not be terribly anxious to declare this a terrorist attack, either. With information leaking all over the place about red flags popping up and a lack of any action on them, declaring this a terrorist attack would focus a lot more attention on why the Obama administration failed to stop it.

      Bob Weir : Fatal Correctness

The brutal massacre of thirteen unarmed soldiers and the wounding of dozens more at Fort Hood, Texas is another terrorist act on American soil that could have been prevented if not for an insidious cloud of political correctness that has taken this country hostage.

The victims of this horrific tragedy died at the hands of an enemy masquerading as a friend. Those soldiers had every reason to believe they were safe on an army base, surrounded by their patriotic brothers and sisters. They volunteered to serve their country, knowing full well that they might lose their lives on a battlefield in a foreign land. Could any of them have imagined that the end would come at the hands of a Muslim extremist wearing the uniform of an Army Major?

Evidently, it wasn't enough of a red flag to read this lunatic's anti-American bitterness, which he proudly posted on the Internet with no fear or compunction about using his own name. This is a guy who regularly wore the fundamentalism uniform of the enemy he was supposedly training our troops to defeat. This is a guy who wrote in laudatory terms about suicide bombers as he condemned US policies in the Middle East. This is a guy who reportedly told his military classmates that he was a Muslim first and an American second. Hello? Is there anyone out there with common sense? If this is national security, we are in more trouble than we realize. How many more savage time bombs do we have walking and stalking among us?

The blood of this massacre had hardly stopped flowing before members of the media were cautioning us not to view all Muslims as terrorists. That should go without saying, but what should not go without saying is that we'd better get serious about the obvious danger of excusing Muslims who make it clear that they hate this country. Discriminating against people because of their race or religion is a description of bigotry, but keeping a close eye on people who give every indication that they're dangerous is more than sensible -- it's a vital cog in the survival instinct.
      ...
When we think of political correctness, we usually view it as confined to the Hollywood crowd and other assorted leftists. The fact that it has invaded the ranks of those who defend our freedom, here and around the world, is more than a bit alarming.

I just watched the Discovery Channel special on John Muhammed/Lee Boyd Malvo special, made in 2009, about their killing spree. In spite of all that is now known the Discovery Channel did not use the M word even once.

      Beltway sniper attacks

A series of trial exhibits indicated that Malvo and Muhammad were motivated by an affinity for Islamic Jihad.[27]
      * Exhibit 65-006: A self-portrait of Malvo in the cross hairs of a gun scope shouting, 'ALLAH AKBAR!' The word 'SALAAM' scrawled vertically. A lyric from Bob Marley's Natural Mystic 'Many more will have to suffer. Many more will have to die. Don't ask me why.'

      * Exhibit 65-016: A portrait of Saddam Hussein with the words 'INSHALLAH' and 'The Protector,' surrounded by rockets labeled 'chem' and 'nuk.'

      * Exhibit 65-043: Father and son portrait of Malvo and Muhammad. 'We will kill them all. Jihad.'

      * Exhibit 65-056: A self-portrait of Malvo as sniper, lying in wait, with his rifle. 'JIHAD' written in bold letters.

      * Exhibit 65-067: A suicide bomber labeled 'Hamas' walking into a McDonald's restaurant. Another drawing of the Twin Towers burning captioned: '85 percent chance Zionists did this.' More scrawls: 'ALLAH AKBAR,' 'JIHAD' and 'Islam will explode.'

      * Exhibit 65-103: A lion accompanies chapter and verse from the Koran ('Sura 2:190'): 'Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you and slay them wherever ye catch them.'

      * Exhibit 65-109: Portrait of Osama bin Laden, captioned 'Servant of Allah.'

      * Exhibit 65-117: The White House drawn in crosshairs, surrounded by missiles, with a warning: 'Sep. 11 we will ensure will look like a picnic to you' and 'you will bleed to death little by little.'

      * Exhibit 65-101: Malvo's thought for the day: 'Islam the only true guidance, the way of peace.'"
The third phase was to extort several million dollars from the United States government. This money would be used to finance a larger plan. The plan was to travel north into Canada. Along the way they would stop in YMCAs and orphanages recruiting other impressionable young boys with no parents or guidance. John Allen Muhammad thought he could act as their father figure as he did with Lee Boyd Malvo. Once he recruited a large number of young boys and made his way up to Canada, he would begin their training. Malvo described how John Allen Muhammad intended to train all these boys with weapons and stealth, as he had been taught. Finally, after their training was complete, John Allen Muhammad would send them out across the United States to carry out mass shootings in many different cities, just as he had done in Washington and Baltimore. These attacks would be coordinated, and were intended to send the country into chaos.

Sweetness & Light : AP: DC Sniper Execution Causes Fear

Isn’t it amazing the lack of coverage Mr. Muhammad’s well deserved execution is getting – even from the left?

Especially, given that this was worst terrorist attack on US soil until Mr. Hasan’s recent jihad.

But even with this natural tie-in, there has been very little coverage of Mr. Muhammad’s send-off, or any remembrances of his killing spree. Which is odd, given how much our watchdog media normally enjoy covering mass murderers.

And yet somehow talking about Muslim mass murderers always seems to be anathema to our watchdog media.

Note how even this article concentrates on the fears Mr. Muhammad’s execution is supposedly dredging up. Whereas we suspect most people would be relieved and gladdened at the news.

Van Helsing : Army Doubles Down on Political Correctness That Enabled Hasan

The governmedia has been twisting itself into pretzels in attempts to justify siding with Muslim terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan against the memories of the 13 Americans he murdered. "Compassion fatigue" doesn't even begin to pass the laugh test, but our liberal rulers have an alternate explanation for Hasan's killing spree: he was harassed for being a Muslim — the implication being that mass murder is an appropriate response to teasing for those who belong to a politically sacred special interest group.

But was this terrorist lowlife even teased?

Ralph Peters doubts it : Obama can't be bothered by Islamic terrorism

Let me kill the harassment myth right now: Political correctness rules in today's Army. We even protect our enemies these days. Had any soldier harassed Hasan because of his Islamist nuttiness, that soldier would've disappeared faster than a Franklin on a Times Square sidewalk.

Any snarky remarks directed toward Hasan — if there were any — would've come in reaction to his railing against our government, our military's mission and the monstrous injustice that, after grabbing an education in psychiatry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from our military, he might have had to do his duty.

Far from being harassed himself, this creep was allowed to harass the soldiers he treated for stress disorders. According to colleagues, Hasan not only argued with his patients about our wars, but preached Islam to those under his care. (Just what troubled vets needed, no doubt.)

Prejudice? You bet. In this terrorist's favor. Nobody in Hasan's chain of command had the sense of duty to weed this pervert out. Why? Hasan would've accused them of discrimination. And the officer who brought charges against Hasan would've been the one whose career suffered.

  • Repeal of marriage for gays

    • From: grtgrdma
    • Description:

I find it interesting that in the article about the defeat, they suggested Pres. Obama should stand against the objectors with a 'moral imperative'. Dictionary says : moral is acting in accordance w/standards & established codes of behavior, especially in sexual conduct. Dictionary, also, says: imperative is a command or plea, having power or authority to command.  It is precisely the 'moral imperative' that I would hope would prevent him from standing firm for gay marriage. NEVER have 2 men or two women ever had the expectation of marriage. NEVER haver 2 men or 2 women ever had the expectation of having children. I have no idea of what their sexual practices consist of, nor do I care - but, do know 'whatever' they cannot produce children.

I know GOD is not the fashionable subject, any more, BUT He does enter into this. It is a moral issue. The Gay community would have us believe their 'struggle' is equal to the Civil Rights movement. Give me a break - it isn't even close!

The Gay community is on the other side of the spectrum. What they participate in is not against the law, but it is under the heading of 'sins'. God does love them, therefore we cannot judge the persons & we cannot turn them out of society. Nor should we want to. But, we cannot rewrite the Bible to excuse what they do & it is clearly addressed, in the Bible -

God's law for us, His people. If they claim belief in Him, that's all He asks. But, they are shortchanging themselves & Him.   Let them live together for 7 yrs & become common- law. That's been allowed, for yrs. Let them fight for their country; they should have that right. They can work anywhere, eat anywhere. We do not have the right to discriminate against them.  We do not have the right to abuse them, etc. They, as human beings, have the right to respect.

But, they are asking for more than they have the right to. Jesus walked with them, but, did not become them. Jesus does not come down to our level. Once He comes into your life, you are raised up to a higher level, just because you are in His presence.   2 men /2 women  sharing the same bed is NOT a higher level.  I'm sorry - this is not malicious or hateful. It's just the way it is....  They chose the words - moral imperative!

  • WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?

    • From: nemokc

A few days before Tuesday's election, I wrote about the fact that who wins and who loses is not that important.  As I said then, "The truth is that this is election will have little effect in reality but is important for the direction that it takes each party and the lessons each side learns today"    Now that the election has come and gone, we can take the time to look at the winners and why they won as well as looking at the losers and deciphering why they lost.

Republicans won in both New Jersey and Virginia.  Both of these Republican victories were not surprising.    Polls showed McDonnell (R) was leading by a considerable margin in Virginia for weeks.    The race in New Jersey fielded a very unpopular incumbent governor leading a state during a major recession.  Not exactly the best of situations to win in.    But he also had strong support from the Obama administration with both the President and Joe Biden campaigning for him which didn't seem to help much.

Perhaps the biggest surprise came from NY-23 where Independent Hoffman garnered huge support from Sarah Palin and other prominent far Right extremists.   He managed to force the official Republican candidate to withdraw just days before the election but still managed to lose a seat that has been held by Republicans for well over 100 year.

In New York City, Mayor Bloomberg was re-elected to a third term after out-spending his relatively unknown Democratic opponet by a huge margin.   He won by only 50,000 votes.   Probably not the voter mandate he was hoping for.

And finally in Maine, Proposition 1 passed by a very narrow margin thus reversing the law passed by the state legislature legalizing gay marriage.   Though a ballot initiative in Washington legalizing "domestic partnership" passed by a narrow margin.

Here are some things though to consider about these races:

      ·     Voter turnout was extremely low for both states.

      ·     Independents seem to go overwhelmingly to the Republicans.

      ·     Competency has become more important than party affiliation.   A seated Democratic Governor like Corzine who's viewed as incompetent can be beat in a predominantly Democratic state.   A ultra-conservative candidate like Hoffman who can't answer questions involving local issues can be beat in a district that has voted Republican since the Civil War.

      ·     Negative campaigning wasn't very helpful.

      ·     Money doesn't buy you love....though it does help.    Corzine and Bloomberg both spent huge amounts of their personal fortunes on their respective races.   Hoffman received over 90% of his funds from sources outside his district.   Only Bloomberg won....and at an incredible cost/voter ratio!

      ·     Extremists don't help you win!    Hoffman's loss in such a predominantly Republican district showed how much damage the fighting between moderate Republicans and the Far Right can do to Republican chances of winning.  The high intensity last minute campaigning by Tea Baggers at polling sites (police had to be called to two of them) probably did a lot to turn off the 1 in 5 undecided voters who showed up.    This is also proved by the win of Virginia's McDonnell who was endorsed by Democrats and ran a very center of the road campaign on issues.   He avoided negative attacks, instead focusing on what he could do for his state and who he was as a person.    He also cut a deal with his only potential primary opponet to avoid having to fight a primary battle.   It is questionable if he would have been able to keep those endorsements or his center-right stance on issues if he had to participate in a hard fought primary against Tea Party activists.

      ·     And finally, the Gay & Lesbian Community needs to take a hard look at how past elections have gone for them.    When you lose over 30 ballot issues advocating for gay marriage, you need to reconsider whether the name "marriage" is more important than the rights associated with a traditional marriage.  I find it significant that Washington State passed a "domestic partnership" act which will legally equalize gay couples with married couples.  It's not perfect....but it seems to be an achievable goal, unlike marriage.   You should also take these votes into consideration when you demand an end to Don't Ask/Don't Tell and DOMA.    Both WILL go away.   But give it time.  Attitudes are changing significantly, for instance, the highest number of votes of any candidate for Mayor in Houston, Texas were won by an openly gay man!  But that doesn't mean that everyone is comfortable with those changes.

These are a few random thoughts that help to explain what happened.   The question is will both parties learn from this election day?  As I said a few days ago, "What will be important is how each side interprets the results and then acts on those interpretations in preparation for 2010."    So have we learned anything?

  • HOW WE GOT WHERE WE ARE WITH H

    • From: jstol3
    • Description:

It has been a long, dusty road. There are many individual stories. Multiply these stories by a few million and it isn't hard to understand how we came to this crossroads.

In high school Billy Joe met Lakeisha Renee, they fell in love and abandoned their previously good study habits. They both came from middle class families. The parents worked hard but didn't have a whole lot of money. The two became intimate. A pregnancy resulted. Midway through her Junior year Lakeisha dropped out to have the baby and she never returned. A few months after the baby was born billy Joe felt pressured to quit school to get a job to support the baby. The only job he could find with his educational backround was in a burger joint at minimum wage flipping burgers. One night Billy Joe got sick and went to the hospital ER and was turned away because he didn't have insurance. He complained to his Congressman and the Congressman proposed a law that no one could be turned away from an ER because of their inability to pay.

A Congressman in another district received a complaint from Dante that he had also been turned away.Dante had a couple of convictions for drug possession while he was in his first year of college and had been kicked out of the college because the possession charges ocurred on campus. He got sick one day and went to the ER and was refused treatment because he couldn't pay. Dante had not been able to find a job due to his drug convictions. He also complained to his Congressman. The Congressman in Dante's district co-sponsored the bill proposed by the Congressman in Billy Joe's district.

Jane had been an A student. She got drunk with some friends one night and took a dare to "hook" with some friends. She got caught, was convicted and expelled from school. Jane got sick and went to the ER. She was refused because she couldn't pay and complained to her Congressman. This congressman also joined as a co-sponsor on the law that Billy Joe's Congressman had proposed.

A law was passed after some deliberation that no person could be turned away from an ER because of their inability to pay.

Soon the medical community became overwhelmed by the number of uninsured people demanding ER services. They asked the Congress to protect them from all of these unpaid charges and the Congress proposed a huge health care plan which would require that every citizen who worked and earned their own money should be forced to pay into a plan which insured everybody whether they contributed their fair share or not.

It would seem that the more logical solution addressing both health care and individual responsibility would be to insist that our education system demand that students educate and conduct themselves so as to be able to afford to care for themselves with the understanding that we must each be responsible for our own actions.

Lesson from government mandate on ER treatment: GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS USUALLY CAUSE EVEN BIGGER PROBLEMS.

  • YOU LIE! Not so harsh after al

    • From: JohnKJR
    • Description:

The president promised "transparency" and to give the public five days to read the bill, but Sen. Jim Bunning's amendment to require the bill, along with a final Congressional Budget Office score, to be posted online 72 hours before the vote was defeated.
      ...
The Democrats still hope to rush the bill through unread. The 1,100-page stimulus bill was posted online only 13 hours before the vote, and the 1,200-page cap-and-trade bill was posted only 15 hours before the vote.

Obama promised that the health care bill would not cover illegal aliens, but Sen. Chuck Grassley's amendment to require immigrants to prove their identities with photo IDs was rejected.
      ...
Obama's appointment of 34 czars includes a health care czar, but Sen. John Ensign's amendment to require any health care czar to be subject to the constitutional Senate confirmation process was defeated. Obama's regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, defends removing organs from terminally ill patients and the deceased, even when they didn't consent to be organ donors.
      ...
Obama promised that under his plan, "no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions," and his press secretary, Robert Gibbs, tried to divert attention from this bold lie by obfuscating the Hyde Amendment. But the Hyde Amendment is not a law; it's a year-at-a-time rider that applies only to current Medicaid programs, and it would not apply to the health care law.

The Democrats five times (twice in Senate committees, three times in House committees) defeated amendments to prohibit the health care plan from spending federal money or requiring health insurance plans to cover abortions. They also defeated Sen. Orrin Hatch's amendment to respect the conscience rights of health care workers who do not want to perform abortions because of moral or religious objections.
      ...
One amendment that did pass was Sen. Maria Cantwell's amendment, which would give the secretary of health and human services the power to define cost-effective care for each medical condition and to punish doctors who treat high-cost patients with complex conditions. That has been Obama's goal from the beginning and inevitably will lead to the "death panels" Sarah Palin warned about.
      ...
Finally, we are subject to the deviousness of what House Minority Leader John Boehner calls the 70 phantom amendments, which were added in secret after the bill was voted out by the committee. The bill may be even worse than we think.

Kyle-Anne Shiver : Alinskyite in Chief Is a Master Polarizer

The thirteenth rule of radical tactics: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. -- Saul Alinsky, the Father of Community Organizing
Barack Obama was raised on the mother's milk of socialism, not the bedrock American values claimed by the Axelrod-spun, fairytale narrative.

Both Barack's mother and his father were fellow travelers of the Marxist band and made no bones about this during their lives. Stanley Ann Dunham was spouting the "gospel of envy" by the time she was in her mid-teens. Barack Obama Sr. saw his own political career in Kenya die out, not only due to his alcoholism, but also due to his hard-core communist fealties, which were too stringent for the softer-core socialists in command of the fledgling post-colonial country of his birth. Young Barack's grandfather, who was his primary caregiver from age 10, made sure the youngster spent vast amounts of his free time with stalwart avowed communist, Frank Marshall Davis.

At their very core, all Marxist theories rest upon polarization, which is the direct result of envy and greed for power. "They have what we want," is the rallying cry of all socialist/communist/fascist systems. All Marxist creeds are as naturally polarizing as a mob of looters.
      ...
His associations with ACORN (Project Vote) and Jeremiah Wright fit perfectly with the worldview his parents, grandfather and mentor purposefully taught him.
      ...
The church chosen by Barack Obama in Chicago was run by Jeremiah Wright, another active and vociferous polarizer. Wright based his own theology on the writings of James H. Cone, a man who boastfully declares that blacks -- not Jews -- are the chosen people of God, that they're due special preference because of their history of oppression and that the only way a white person can join them is to shed their "white skins" and become black in their souls. Both Cone and Wright preach black supremacy and black separatism and have bought hook, line and sinker the socialist, "They have what we want," rallying cry. Barack Obama chose this theology of his own free will as a full-fledged, well-educated adult.

As a young politician in Chicago, Obama was known for sowing division and polarity among his own constituents, first with his underhanded treatment of Alice Palmer, then with his ill-fated challenge of Bobby Rush for the U.S. Congress.

Why would anyone believe that Barack Obama had a single unifying bone in his body? Such a belief defies common sense.

  • Deliriousman and the Left - A

    • From: JDog
    • Description:

I have to admit that I've been laughing for the past two days over a comment left by Genoiusman, (a.k.a. Deliriousman), on my post, Open and Transparent; ha, ha, ha. Seems my "avitar" has gotten under his skinSurprised . (Thank goodness conversative blogger Rosco and his avitar aren't around any more for Deliriousman to see!!!) So, I thought I'd do a little research, cuttting and pasting to perpetuate my new found laughter, since laughter is good for one's health. Following are numerous comments from Deliriousman, and the posts they are from are underlined for your reference.

A couple of thoughts: First, does anyone on the Left, or Left of center, really embrace this type of 'off subject' ranting? Second, recently a new conservative blogger (SOTAR) posted a ranting, name calling post which I and others on the right commented back that this was no way to introduce one's self. Third, in all fairness to Deliriousman, I did find two comments that actually made coherent sense and were 'on topic', yea.

So, let's have a little fun/humor and comment on Deliriousman's comments. Feel free to hammer away at me too for posting this, JUST LEAVE MY AVITAR OUT OF THISLaughing

      ·         JDog, if you want transparancy then take off those damn shades and let us look into your eyes.  You seem very well read for a 6 month old, but then I guess just like listening to spanish tapes in your sleep since birth to get a jump start on the other kids, your parents must be playing Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity tapes while your cute little bald headed snotty nosed ass goes to bed...sweet dreams. – Deliriousman  -  Open & Transparent; ha, ha, ha.

      • msshowmekc...You should have asked was the woman a democrat or a republican that would have given you a realistic and accurate motive for the story and the comments.  Forget common sense, decency and kindness toward your fellow man, just ask was it a democrat or a republican and all will be made clear to you.  – Deliriousman – racial broadcasting
      • Let us judge all right wing posters by the company they keep...or quote! – Deliriousman – State Media Takeover?
      • I feel so small...and hurt, no one in the sand box wants to play with me. – Deliriousman – State Media Takeover?
      • Does the "J" in JDog stand for...

      1) judgmental

      2) justified

      3) jerk

      4) just as dumb as the day I was born

      5) ________________ you fill in

      ? –           Deliriousman – State Media Takeover?

      ·         …If you quote only one source then your facts, conclusions and certianly your opinions are subject to serious doubt or contempt. Otherwise admit you hate a black President and stand behind your opinion. – Deliriousman -  Truth and the Left

      • Do you like Chinese food...?

If yes, I wonder what your connection is to the liking of food that is directly related to a country that is communist.

Are you a Mao enthusiast? – Deliriousman – Obama’s Anita Dunn Hates Fox News

      ·         Does your media bias and inflated reporting include those whom call Fox News home?

Or do you argue that only Fox News has a real "unbiased" ability to report all the news?

I am guessing Beck, Limbaugh, and Hannity are your idea of the best investigative reporters and bring honesty and integrity to the news reporting business. Deliriousman – Is The Sky Really Falling?

      ·         You have a valid point john, we need to send someone from the media to check out the lack of coverage on this most important story.  The lack of its reporting has denied the American people the chance to make informed, intelligent decisions about how and where their government is being corrupted by the Communists.

So that there will be uncorruptable, unargueable, and unimpeachable reporting, that will cover only the facts, without predjudice;  I have personally sent an email request to both Limbaugh and Beck.  It is recognised throughout the Western world that their personal type of investigate journalism will produce a story that is, of course, without contempt or falsehood.

I only hope that these men of integrity in the journalistic community, are willing to take on such an important assignment.  I dont have any recollection of them actually doing stories from outside of their respective studios, but I admit I dont watch all their stories.  I have been seen watching corrupted news networks where the anchors and reporters actually appear out in the world or at events about which they are reporting.

Anyway, guys I agree with you that this needs some investigation, so let us see how good a job of investigative journalism they perform.  This is their big chance to show the rest of the world, at least every other news channel on television, why they are all corrupt and dishonest, and of course Fox News isnt.

PLAY BALL... – Deliriousman - Picketing

      • Well reported, well thought out and certianly worthy of consideration, very glad you brought this to our attention.  Without your comprehensive coverage of such important news items I would be unable to keep my pulse on the decay of our American society, and certianly the ongoing dismantling of our way of life. – Deliriousman – Obama’s Newest Racmongering Judge

Have a great and laughter filed Sunday
