It was once stated on this Blog site by NemoKC that after the terror attack at Fort Hood that American Muslims and thier spokespeople and organizations denounced the act. THIS is what I would like to say on this matter and in general about what I see as a lack of courage and conviction of American Muslims to denounce the violence of thier own.
The recent Islamist terror attack against American warriors preparing for combat deployment from Fort Hood, Texas, serves as a harsh reminder that the threat of terror from home-grown radical Muslims remains a very real danger to our country. Major Hasan, the alleged terrorist murderer, appears to have been long under suspicion for his anti-American, pro-radical Islamist statements.
Following the shooting, many leading mainstream American press outlets blamed Major Hasan's attack on "loneliness"; of being angry over his treatment as the result of his Muslim faith, or his reluctance to support the war on terror by deployment to a war zone.
What was, as usual, overlooked by the sycophantic press was the stark reality that slapped all Americans in the face at Fort Hood: Major Hasan committed his terrorist act and did so with the full blessing of his version of "Allah"; the very same "Allah" that motivates Islamist terrorists like those in Hamas and al Qaeda in their demented desire to impose "paradise on Earth" by terror murdering all who disagree with their "religion of peace". Even Hasan's radical Islamist Imam, who formerly preached at a Falls Church, Virginia mosque called Hasan a "hero" for his attack. What version of Islam does Imam Anwar al-Aulaq represent?
CAIR said it was a "big surprise" this Imam held radical beliefs. Yet CAIR has no problem inviting speakers to CAIR events who advocate attacking U.S. troops, like American cleric Zaid Shakir who said:
"Islam doesn't permit us to hijack airplanes filled with civilian people," ...
"If you hijack an airplane filled with the 82nd Airborne, that's something else."
Beliefs of religious leaders like Shakir and al-Aulaq appear to be given a pass, and therein lies a major problem: the mainstream press in our country seems unreasonably fixated on the idea that many Muslims are so mentally unstable, so irrational, and so unable to stand up for themselves that excuses must be made for the behavior of radical, militant Muslims; no matter how heinous or despicable that behavior may be. Yes, these radical Muslims - whose minds are perverted with a violent form of political, militant Islam - are so misunderstood that we must excuse them even when they come to murder us.
When will this madness stop? How many innocents must be terror murdered before America’s righteous indignation motivates the people to demand our leaders either lead or get out of the way when it comes to dealing with Islamist terror; protected, nurtured and encouraged by Muslim Brotherhood front groups like CAIR? What is this irrational fear that motivates our so-called leaders to cower at the very mention of the word "Muslim"? Why must we continually apologize to radical Islam for our very existence? What is this wicked power Islamists exert over our institutions that causes many of us to fall all over ourselves in our rush to lie prostrate at the feet of radical Islamist groups like CAIR, and ask for forgiveness?
The real reason radical Islam enjoys the special protections of the press and some of our government agencies? Fear of reprisal.
When it comes to the mainstream press, the days of the fearless investigative reporter, backed up by a fire-breathing editor, supported by a news organization worthy of the name are long gone; replaced by "reporters" and "editors" literally afraid of their own shadows. The North American press, once the envy of the world, is mired in a form of political correctness that undermines the security of our country; refusing to recognize its own appeasement while criticizing those who do the right thing in defending our country. This is cowardice in its worse form; self-imposed. How sick is this?
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has repeatedly said that Americans cannot blame all of Islam for the actions of a few.
Fair enough.
However, we can, and do, directly blame CAIR for fostering an atmosphere that lends support and encouragement to Islamic terrorists like Hamas...and Major Hasan. Possibly sensing further exposure of CAIR's dangerous radical ideology that includes claims that America's war on terror is "war on Islam", CAIR appears frantic in making a like-minded Major Hasan out to be anything other than a radicalized Muslim.
A panting Ibrahim Hooper said: "Why can't the killer at Fort Hood just be a crazy guy?"
CAIR condemns the Fort Hood massacre; yet CAIR’s own senior officials are on record making statements encouraging or excusing Islamic terror, such as:
"Fighting for freedom, fighting for Islam, that is not suicide…they kill themselves for Islam."
Which is true, CAIR condemns Islamic terrorism, or approves it?
CAIR, the self-described "Islamic civil rights group" threatened to sue Anti-CAIR several years ago over the statements accusing CAIR of supporting Islamic terrorists, Islamic terrorist groups, and Islamic terrorist supporting countries. When Anti-CAIR refused to back down, CAIR sued. The result of CAIR’s attempt to silence Anti-CAIR? CAIR refused to answer discovery questions and ultimately ran away from its own lawsuit.
How is it that CAIR, the great "defender of Islam" in America, could not even stand up to two guys and a laptop?
What destroyed CAIR’s case? The truth.
Yet, the mainstream press and some politicians in this country continue to run and kowtow to CAIR every time a tragedy like Fort Hood happens; willingly lending credibility to a group that has none among the majority of Americans who know better than to believe the propaganda filth perpetrated by CAIR’s Islamist terrorism supporting lapdogs.
To add insult to the Fort Hood massacre, CAIR is begging for donations for "defending Islam" in the mainstream press; i,e, conning the rubes into believing that the massacre had nothing to do with Islam. CAIR, an organization that supports terror in the name of Islam, steps over the still-warm bodies of American warriors to make a buck to support their propaganda efforts to destroy our country and support those who will kill us if we give them half a chance to do so.
Remember that this is the same CAIR that raised cash for the Holy Land Foundation following 9-11 under a misleading donation link that seemed to suggest money was being raised for the American heroes of 9-11. Imagine their surprise when the duped donors learned their hard-earned cash was being used to fund the very strain of Islamist terror that brought down the Twin Towers.
CAIR, the "defender" of Islamic rights in North America, is surely supported by Muslims in North America, right?
Maybe.
As Frank Gaffney reports, CAIR is actually shrinking, and has been doing so for many years. According to Gaffney (President of the Center for Security Policy), CAIR’s membership stood at 1,700 in 2006. Consider that this represents less than .001% of Muslims in North America and it is plain to see that the majority of Muslims in North America do not regard CAIR as their spokesman or as "Defender of Muslim rights".
What do North American Muslims know about CAIR that the New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media do not? Why doesn’t the mainstream media try and find out?
Gaffney goes on to point out that not only are CAIR’s membership numbers down, but that support from old friends is down as well. While CAIR reports that its "banquets" are sold out, the fact is that most of them lose money and old reliable's, such as ambassadors from predominantly Muslim countries, no longer bother to show up to CAIR events. How curious that everyone seems to be abandoning CAIR, yet it continues to raise money. Who is donating this money and why?
Gaffney, to be fair, does point out that CAIR does have at least one "respectable" supporter:
"The one bit of good news for CAIR at the 2009 event – well, in addition to their announcement that their fundraiser was "sold out" – came from Libya. Not only did the ambassador himself attend the October 24, 2009 event, but "The People’s Bureau of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya" also took out a full-page ad in the printed program. CAIR can take comfort knowing that at least Muammar al-Gaddafi cares for CAIR."
The terrorist murderer of Lockerbie supports CAIR! Who knew? … and CAIR repudiates Islamist terror?
CAIR says that it is wrong to blame all Muslims for the actions of a few; this is true. However, it is equally wrong for North American Muslims to remain largely silent, except for a handful, to the terrorist supporting actions of CAIR. We need to see a Muslim-led protest at the headquarters of CAIR.
We need to encourage and see our fellow American Muslims by the score stand up for themselves and against radical variations of Islam, embraced by the likes of CAIR, that are - as described by one American Muslim - "truly a threat" to this country.

Either that, or we’re supposed to believe PTSD is contagious and Hasan came to suffer from it by treating it.
Jules Crittenden : Combat Wounded, Combat Dead
[Major Hasan] probably deserves desertion, treason and terrorism charges if, as all indicators seem to very strongly suggest, he was engaged in jihad, from his violence-inciting, hateful rants about the Koran, his denunciation of the United States as “the aggressor” in arguments with fellow soldiers, to his shouts of “Allahu Akhbar,” to what they believe were his Internet defenses of suicide bombings, to his choice of targets, the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood. If al-Qaeda is an amorphous enemy, an idea made situationally manifest by the will of its adherents, and he was in fact an adherent of its violent agenda, then he is the enemy, his actions were acts of war, and they bled and died under enemy fire.
Is any of the above very likely to be offically recognized? No.
Incredible, especially when you consider that the only Muslims killed in the USA on 9/11 and in Britain on 7/7 were killed by Muslims.
Muslims may have as much to fear from radical Muslims as any other American, Briton or Canadian. It's not like the Toronto 15 had come up with a plan to make sure none of Toronto's thousands of Muslims were around when they triggered their bombs.
I'm rather sick of the MSM interrupting our grieving to tell us that, to add Muslims' insults to a Muslim's murderous injury, they suspect us of wanting to attack their mosques now, even though we didn't the last ten times a Muslim killed innocent people in the name of Islam. What are they scared of? Grafitti?

Obama Doesn't "Get" the Military He Commands
Life is full of mysteries, but chief among them in this Marine wife's mind at the moment is, "Just how stupid does this White House think we are?" If the events of the past few months have shown us anything, it's that Barack Obama has little enthusiasm for - or interest in - one of the most important duties of an American President: his role as Commander in Chief of the nation's armed forces.
...
...where was our Commander in Chief when his top commander in Afghanistan was being viciously attacked? Did he step in and defend his subordinate for doing the job he was ordered to do? Of course he didn't.
...
The McChrystal leak was followed by the revelation that our stalwart Commander in Chief had only met with his top commander in Afghanistan once. Stung by the implication that his "war of necessity" was very much on the back burner, Obama scrambled to find a mere 20 minutes to spare as he idled on a runway in northern Europe. He spent more time than that conducting a beer summit.
Now the Army's largest base has suffered a devastating attack by a deranged Islamist. And how does our Commander in Chief respond? He gives a "shout out" to Joe Medicine Crow, that noted Congressional Medal of Honor winner.
...
...in a moment of national tragedy is it really too much to expect the President of the United States to forego the "shout outs"? Is it too much ask that he learn the difference between the Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Medal of Honor?
Noah Pollak : Could “Secondary Trauma” Have Driven Him to Shooting?
So asks an absurd Time magazine story positing that Major Nidal Malik Hasan murdered a dozen people while apparently shouting “Allahu Akbar” because in his line of work — psychiatry — “there was no shortage of horrific tales that could have set loose the demons in Hasan’s mind.”
This shouldn’t be surprising coming from Tim McGirk. He went to Afghanistan after 9/11, had Thanksgiving with the Taliban, and wrote a long piece for National Geographic about what a great time he had and how we’re all just human beings doing our thing on this big blue marble, so let’s not judge. Then he went to Iraq and singlehandedly created the Haditha Massacre hoax. Then he went to Jerusalem and spent a few years slandering Israel. Now he’s trafficking in pop psychology on behalf of a likely domestic jihadist. It’s been quite a career.
Clarice Feldman : Tim McGirk who concocted the Haditha massacre is back

Bob Weir : Fatal Correctness
The brutal massacre of thirteen unarmed soldiers and the wounding of dozens more at Fort Hood, Texas is another terrorist act on American soil that could have been prevented if not for an insidious cloud of political correctness that has taken this country hostage.
The victims of this horrific tragedy died at the hands of an enemy masquerading as a friend. Those soldiers had every reason to believe they were safe on an army base, surrounded by their patriotic brothers and sisters. They volunteered to serve their country, knowing full well that they might lose their lives on a battlefield in a foreign land. Could any of them have imagined that the end would come at the hands of a Muslim extremist wearing the uniform of an Army Major?
Evidently, it wasn't enough of a red flag to read this lunatic's anti-American bitterness, which he proudly posted on the Internet with no fear or compunction about using his own name. This is a guy who regularly wore the fundamentalism uniform of the enemy he was supposedly training our troops to defeat. This is a guy who wrote in laudatory terms about suicide bombers as he condemned US policies in the Middle East. This is a guy who reportedly told his military classmates that he was a Muslim first and an American second. Hello? Is there anyone out there with common sense? If this is national security, we are in more trouble than we realize. How many more savage time bombs do we have walking and stalking among us?
The blood of this massacre had hardly stopped flowing before members of the media were cautioning us not to view all Muslims as terrorists. That should go without saying, but what should not go without saying is that we'd better get serious about the obvious danger of excusing Muslims who make it clear that they hate this country. Discriminating against people because of their race or religion is a description of bigotry, but keeping a close eye on people who give every indication that they're dangerous is more than sensible -- it's a vital cog in the survival instinct.
...
When we think of political correctness, we usually view it as confined to the Hollywood crowd and other assorted leftists. The fact that it has invaded the ranks of those who defend our freedom, here and around the world, is more than a bit alarming.
I just watched the Discovery Channel special on John Muhammed/Lee Boyd Malvo special, made in 2009, about their killing spree. In spite of all that is now known the Discovery Channel did not use the M word even once.

Along the way they would stop in YMCAs and orphanages recruiting other impressionable young boys with no parents or guidance. John Allen Muhammad thought he could act as their father figure as he did with Lee Boyd Malvo. Once he recruited a large number of young boys and made his way up to Canada, he would begin their training. Malvo described how John Allen Muhammad intended to train all these boys with weapons and stealth, as he had been taught. Finally, after their training was complete, John Allen Muhammad would send them out across the United States to carry out mass shootings in many different cities, just as he had done in Washington and Baltimore. These attacks would be coordinated, and were intended to send the country into chaos.

Sweetness & Light : AP: DC Sniper Execution Causes Fear
Isn’t it amazing the lack of coverage Mr. Muhammad’s well deserved execution is getting – even from the left?
Especially, given that this was worst terrorist attack on US soil until Mr. Hasan’s recent jihad.
But even with this natural tie-in, there has been very little coverage of Mr. Muhammad’s send-off, or any remembrances of his killing spree. Which is odd, given how much our watchdog media normally enjoy covering mass murderers.
And yet somehow talking about Muslim mass murderers always seems to be anathema to our watchdog media.
Note how even this article concentrates on the fears Mr. Muhammad’s execution is supposedly dredging up. Whereas we suspect most people would be relieved and gladdened at the news.
Van Helsing : Army Doubles Down on Political Correctness That Enabled Hasan
The governmedia has been twisting itself into pretzels in attempts to justify siding with Muslim terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan against the memories of the 13 Americans he murdered. "Compassion fatigue" doesn't even begin to pass the laugh test, but our liberal rulers have an alternate explanation for Hasan's killing spree: he was harassed for being a Muslim — the implication being that mass murder is an appropriate response to teasing for those who belong to a politically sacred special interest group.
But was this terrorist lowlife even teased?
Ralph Peters doubts it : Obama can't be bothered by Islamic terrorism
Let me kill the harassment myth right now: Political correctness rules in today's Army. We even protect our enemies these days. Had any soldier harassed Hasan because of his Islamist nuttiness, that soldier would've disappeared faster than a Franklin on a Times Square sidewalk.
Any snarky remarks directed toward Hasan — if there were any — would've come in reaction to his railing against our government, our military's mission and the monstrous injustice that, after grabbing an education in psychiatry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from our military, he might have had to do his duty.
Far from being harassed himself, this creep was allowed to harass the soldiers he treated for stress disorders. According to colleagues, Hasan not only argued with his patients about our wars, but preached Islam to those under his care. (Just what troubled vets needed, no doubt.)
Prejudice? You bet. In this terrorist's favor. Nobody in Hasan's chain of command had the sense of duty to weed this pervert out. Why? Hasan would've accused them of discrimination. And the officer who brought charges against Hasan would've been the one whose career suffered.

Last week it was a Muslim whack job at Fort Hood who killed/wounded 43. Not too long ago it was a lone Muslim gunman who killed an Army Recruiter. On 9/11 it was Muslim hijackers that killed nearly 3000. How long are we going to continue to view Muslims as members of a "religion"? I believe Islam is a dangerous cult and needs to be labled as such and that we need to cease respecting it as a "religion". According to Koranic scriptue they are charged with killing the "infidel' (an infidel is anyone who does not embrace Islam according to them).

Good Afternoon Everyone!
We've officially turned the corner for the week and for the forecast. Tonight we'll see the high pressure sliding on top of us which will lead to clear skies, light winds and chilly overnight lows. Some locations could drop below freezing, for Kansas City I went with a 34 degree low temperature for tonight. This is the last of the chilly air for a while...as we'll finally see warmer weather back in the forecast starting Friday. Expect highs around 70 Friday, around 76 Saturday and back to the lower 70s on Sunday. Dry weather will also remain in the forecast through Sunday...in other words, we are in store for a great weekend! Highs this weekend will be more typical of late September and early October, not early November, so enjoy it!
Next week is when we'll see our rain chances returning. Monday night into Tuesday morning we'll see the next storm moving through the plains. The big question right now is if there will be enough moisture in place to get a decent chance for rain. Right now I'm only holding out for a light rain event at best for Monday night into early Tuesday. My forecast today had a 30% chance in for that time frame. Temperatures will also drop back to the upper 50s and lower 60s (more typical of this time of the year). This cool down will be short lived though, as it appears we'll warm back up towards the middle of next week!
Looking even farther ahead, it looks like the weekend of Nov. 14th we'll see a return to a slightly colder pattern. Of course that is so far off, I wouldn't worry about it too much...but the mention of colder weather brings me to my next topic for today's blog: Our Winter Weather Forecast.
Our annual Winter Roundtable where the four of us sit down and discuss our predictions for the upcoming winter will be November 20th during the evening news. We'll talk about what we think will be our lowest temperature for the winter season, along with our snowfall predictions. Keep in mind average snowfall is right around 20 inches for KCI. Last year we ended up with 14.6" and our coldest low -6. This year we are going to have to take into account that El Nino is back. Typically El Nino winters tend to be slightly above average temperature wise and precipitation tends to be slightly below or around average. Definitely something to think about over the next couple of weeks as we all try to put together our winter forecast!
The National Weather Service also put together there 2009 Winter Outlook, and also talked more in depth about El Nino and it's impact on our winter. Click here to listen: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/eax/briefing/
Switching from winter weather to Tropics (yes, it is still Hurricane Season until November 30th!) we have another Tropical Depression (#11) that is currently off the coast of Nicaragua. A recon plane is en route to the depression as I type this to see if it has strengthened into Tropical Storm Ida. You can see the most current info here: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?
Have a great day everyone, and enjoy the blue skies!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
The gorgeous, warm weather of yesterday has left us, but we still have an OK week ahead of us! Temperatures climbed into the 60s around lunch time here in Kansas City, with mid 50s up near St. Joseph. Clouds moved in from the northwest around noon and will be with us for the rest of the day. There are also some light showers moving through parts of Kansas and now moving into western Missouri. A few showers or sprinkles are possible this afternoon, then as high pressure moves in we'll see clearing late tonight.
Minus today's small chance for rain, the rest of the week looks pretty dry. A ridge building out west will move into our part of the country and allow us to warm up nicely heading into the weekend. Highs by Friday should be back around 70, and the weekend should see mid 70s for highs!
Rain should hold off until next Monday, then we'll see another front moving in. Not only can we expect rain back in the forecast, but we'll also see our temperatures dropping back to average (around 60) for our highs.
I know Joe put some great facts into his blog yesterday about October 2009 being the third coldest on record. The National Weather Service did a nice little write up about it. Click here to read more: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=eax&storyid=35858&source=0
Have a great day everyone...and hopefully you can get some raking done with the drier weather this week!

Isn't that the theme to the NCAA music on CBS? Anyway it's wonderful out there...when I saw the 12Z (6AM) sounding from Topeka and saw how warm the air was aloft...I had a feeling that with the winds being what they are...my 69 forecast was going to be too low...as of this writing we're in the lower 70s and should finish closer to 75 before the sun starts to set in the next few hours...wonderful indeed...reminds me of the way October started before it went to heck after the 1st...on 10/1 we were 76 degrees and then it got and stayed chilly for the rest of the month...this month however will not follow that pattern as more warm air...and perhaps 70+ air is tergeting the region later in the week and into next weekend...and the forecast will be upped for the maxes this afternoon...
Lets talk about October of 2009 for one last second...I emailed the folks at Pleasant Hill to help me out with the answer to the question...when was the last time a month was soooo far below average @ KCI...in the case of October of 2009...it was 6.2 degrees below average...so a big hat-tip to Matt D for helping me out with this information...
The last time a month was that cold relative to average was DEC of 2003 with temperatures 12.3 degrees below average...We were also well below avg in DEC 1989 with temps 10.2 below avg...you may remember that month...it marked our most extreme cold ever with two mornings of -23 and 3 other mornings of -14 and below that...all told 8 days with lows below 0 with 7" of snow...also FEB of 1989 was -10.2 degrees.
The last time OCT was so cold relative to average was OCT of 1925 at -9.3 degrees and then OCT of 1917 @ -6.5 degrees...anyway just a few more crazy stats for you...thanks again to Pleasant Hill for doing some number crunching for me...
No real changes in the day to day thoughts of the weather...tomorrow we should be around 60...50s on TUE I think...then the warmth surges back in...our 5K temps this AM were +13C...we're probably going to max out at that level near +15C...and the models are suggesting the same "warmth" at that level heading towards us next weekend with decent mixing on FRI/SUN...so if we're getting back into the 70s it would be at least potentially there...
I guess we can consider that our Indian Summer since it should last a few days in a row...anytime the models are this optimistic in such a fast flow you always get concerned about the potential of weak trofs sliding through and knocking down the best warmth...it will turn an optimistic 70s forecast into the 60s in a heartbeat...so that will be in the back of my mind along with the potential of any weird upper level cloud cover that could squash things for sure...but one thing for sure...it doesn't look cold...nor does it look wet anytime soon...so a lot of drying should take place for the next 7+ days...there may be a weird sprinkle/shower in there somewhere...but it doesn't look like much...
The rain is ending in the Philly area...so Game #4 is set for tonight and should be OK...the next threat would be a potential rain on Game #7 (THU)...
That's all I've got for you today...see you after the game tonight...probably closer to 10:30 or 11PM...at least the data roles in an hour earlier with the time change...
