The Power of One

Just a reminder to all who actively participate in (or even just read) the blogs to head to the polls to vote tomorrow if there are ballot issues in your area.  If you don't know, find out, then take the time to research the pros and cons.  And finally, take the few extra minutes needed to cast your vote(s).  Turnout is likely to be low, so you won't likely be spending time in lines.

YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT!  This country has a history of issues (large and small) that have been decided by a single vote.  The biggest cop-out ever is to mutter that all of politics is corrupt, so you can't be bothered to do something useless.  On the contrary, there is a LOT the individual can do - voting is simply the most visible aspect.

We usually don't truly miss something until it's gone.  My youth is a good example of that.  Or good health.  Or freedom to make choices.  Don't wake up someday to find your voting right eliminated, where all you can do is reminisce and think of what if's.

VOTE!

  • Thanks; it was just a crack. Voting is serious business in my book. It is the one civic duty that people too often shirk for a variety of excuses.

  • I voted - and, while I'm not totally against the Democratic party, that was a good crack, JohnKJR - LOL!

  • And just a side note to your piece; Friends don't let friends vote Democrat.

  • WV - If 100% of registered voters actually turned out and voted, we wouldn't need pollsters and analysts "explaining" how Americans think within margins of error.  We'd know exactly how they think, and as you say, it would scare the politicians to death.  Because if they got voted in and didn't actually represent the majority who helped them win, they'd be booted out next election, and their personal moment in politics would be over.

Seems like a push for a 100% turnout drive with savvy marketing could make a heck of a political statement, particularly in a presidential election year.  Focus on all the disenchanted out there.  Tea parties, take note.

If there was anything near 100% voter turnout politicians wouldn’t know what to do. It would scare the hell out of them. That, if for no other reason, should be incentive to get out and vote.
