1. There is NO provision to verify status in the bill.
2. If there were a provision to exempt ILLEGALS the Supreme Court would eventually
Of course if you have a written and signed guarantee from Obama to the contrary we have nothing to worry about.
Searchingtoo, 2 weeks ago | FlagWell, the fun part is, is that if they dont get it through this year, they wont next, because NO ONE wants to sign a very expensive and damaging bill during a campaign year..
They wont have to time figure out how to blame it on someone else before the election

a comment like kingborg did is nemo. Any connection ? Actually it is true that the bill currently says ILLEGALS won't be covered. It is also true that there is NO verificati
on process prescribed . It is also true that the Supreme Court would probably end up declaring that part of the law unconstitu tional. Fox just announced that Harry Reid may not try to put the Health Care Bill through this year. I'm not sure how to interpret that right now.

I am not a Constitutional scholar, but it my understanding that it would be unconstitutional for our government not to make available government health care to illegals when it is made available to everyone else residing in the US. If there are no provisions in the bill requiring or allowing immigration status checks, it really doesn’t make a difference because you would know the persons status. Also, there is a law that forbids any hospital from refusing emergency treatment to a person regardless of their legal status or ability to pay. They many put a provision in their bill that exempts illegals from government provided health care, but you can bet that it will be challenged in court at the earliest opportunity. Knowing this, the Democrats may just have someone file a lawsuit and they can remove that provision from the bill and say they were forced by the courts to do so.
This is a double edged scalpel, if the health care bill accommodates illegals it angers conservatives, moderates, and some independents. If it doesn’t, it angers all the special interest immigration groups.
Rather than trying to change the entire structure of health care all at once, our government would be better off (meet less resistance) trying to do away with the corruption, fraud and waste first. Then if that doesn’t lower health care cost sufficiently and help provide better services, then move on to a complete overhaul. Obviously doing away with corruption, fraud and waste is a good idea, Obama has said that it will help pay for major health care changes. If that’s true, then why not start there first?
JDog, 2 weeks ago | Flagking, first off let me say 'kudos" for your comment. It took some research and cutting & pasting. I know that is not your style... but hey, it didn't go unnoticed
What is being argued here is interpreta
tion and enforcemen t. I know what it says, and I know there is no meat on that bone. If there is nothing that requires a person to show that they are in the U.S. legally, what good its that resolution ? Isn't it kind of like declaring war on another country, except you have no infantry or tanks
